When do the residence halls open and close?
Fall Opening - Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM - Residence Halls open for new students
Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM - Returning students Move-in Day
Thanksgiving/Fall Break Closing - Friday, Nov. 20, 2026, at 5:30 PM.
Halls reopen Sunday November 29, 2026, at 9:00 AM
Winter Break Closing - Friday, December 11, 2026, at 5:30 PM
Spring Opening - Monday, January 18, 2027, at 9:00 AM
Spring Break - Friday, March 12, 2027, at 5:30 PM and re-opens on Sunday, March 21, 2027, at 9:00 a.m.
Spring Closing - Friday, May 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM
How can my family and friends contact me?
It is your responsibility to inform family and friends of your address. However, Northeastern is able to release directory information to family members. Please refer to the Northeastern website for directory information. The Department of Residence Life (970-521-6608) will take messages for residents during normal business hours - 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Please refer to the section titled Mail for your residence hall address.
When do we receive our deposits back?
Deposits will roll over at the end of each semester after both a residence life staff inspection and a physical plant inspection of each room. Any damages assessed during those inspections, as well as charges incurred during the school year, will be subtracted from the $150 deposit. The spring semester refunds will arrive no later than July 1 of that year.
If leaving during the semester, and if the deposit is not forfeited, refunds will be issued within 30 days of departure.
