Northeastern Website Action Plan

To be completed by January 1, 2016:

  • Review Northeastern website to determine accessibility conformity issues.
  • Address and work with developers to fix all structural accessibility conformity issues within the website.
  • Develop and implement website accessibility best practices and provide website content and document creation training (working with Comprehensive Learning Services  {CLC}) for all current website content liaisons.
  • Begin updating website page content (this includes written copy, video, audio, images, etc.) for accessibility beginning with most viewed pages.
  • Working with the CCCS office, ensure that the ACCESS NJC login page and interior pages meet accessibility standards.
  • Open a line of communication with websites Northeastern works with to determine their accessibility plan.  (Identify Websites we work with)

To be completed by January 1, 2017:

  • Develop website accessibility best practices and criterion for posting of documents.
  • Lead website development team to ensure that the website launch has addressed structural accessibility conformity issues.
  • Open a line of communications with linked websites to determine their accessibility plan.
  • Research screen reader software. 
  • All new documents on the website must meet accessibility standards or they will be removed from the site.
  • Northeastern will conduct an audit of http://njc.edu  to determine remaining conformity issues and will begin addressing those issues.

To be completed by January 1, 2018:

  • Best practices criterion to be finalized and distributed to Northeastern employees.
  • All documents on the website must meet accessibility standards or they will be removed from the site.
  • Development of web audit plan to ensure accessibility compliance.
  • Partnership with website content liaisons to ensure that future content development is accessible.

To be completed by January 2019

  • New web platform launch with accessibility confirmation
  • Documents on the Northeastern website meet accessibility standards

Ongoing:

  • Northeastern’s web team will monitor website updates to ensure they meet accessibility standards (this includes all documents that are available within the site).
  • Training for website content liaisons.
  • Research of accessibility standards and best practices for utilization.
  • Northeastern will conduct ongoing audits of www.njc.edu to determine remaining conformity of website and documents within the site.
  • Send out bi-annual reminders to all employees stating that all web content may be compliant.
