Emergency Medical Technician

Emergency Medical Technician:  Basic Certificate CIP 510904 (EMTB)

Upon completion of the Emergency Medical Technical Program the student will meet the prerequisite for taking the National Registry Examination for Emergency Medical Technicians. The program will teach skills in emergency treatment procedures as used with an ambulance service.

EMT Paramedic Certificate: Paramedic Certificate CIP 510904 (EMPC) 

The Emergency Medical Provider (EMP) program is designed for students seeking careers in emergency medicine. This program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to function within the Emergency Medical Services System. Courses progress from EMT to Paramedic. All programs meet or exceed the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment requirements for certification eligibility. All EMS courses must be taken as an emphasis block of instruction as indicated below.

Students must be EMT certified from another institution, or complete EMS 1021, EMS 1022, and EMS 1023, and EMS 1070 and earn the EMT Certificate at NJC. Enrollment in Paramedic level courses require Colorado EMT IV, CPR certifications and BIO 1006.

The Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

  • National Criminal Background Check with no CCCS Disqualifying Offenses
  • 10 panel drug screen (negative all fields)
  • Required vaccinations
  • Physician clearance letter
  • Valid Colorado EMT card
  • Proof of Colorado IV/IO endorsement
  • Current healthcare provider CPR card
