What do you like about the program you are in at NJC?

I love absolutely everything about NJC's nursing program! The instructors are very helpful and genuinely want every student to succeed. They are always willing to provide support, answer questions, and ensure that we understand the material. I also really appreciate all of the hands-on learning that we receive throughout the program, as it really helps to improve my confidence in my skills and prepare me going forward into clinical rotations.

What advice do you have for future students attending NJC?

My advice would be to always utilize your resources no matter what path or program you are pursuing. There are so many people at NJC who want to see you succeed so never be afraid to ask for help. The library has been a great resource for me personally because when I study at home, I tend to get easily distracted by laundry or pets or whatever it may be. Having a dedicated space to focus on my schoolwork has been incredibly helpful.

NJC Nursing Student Katrina Mustard

I started my healthcare journey as a Medical Assistant at the Family Care Clinic here in Sterling, and it was this experience that played a major role in my decision to pursue nursing. Working closely with patients and their families showed me just how meaningful even the smallest interactions could be. I also had the opportunity to work alongside other NJC Nursing graduates who spoke very highly about the program, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue my education and further my career.
