How to Register for Classes

How to Register for Classes

 

Please select your student category to determine your next steps in the registration process. 

Once you have applied and been admitted you will receive an email with your student identification number (S number.) Your S number will allow you to log in to your Access NJC account. 

  • Log in to Access NJC 
    • Username = S#
      (refer to your acceptance email for your NJC Student ID Number: your S#)
    • Password = StudentMMDDYYYY
      (default password is the word "Student" followed by your 8-digit date of birth, in MMDDYYYY format; for example: January 26, 1985, would be entered as Student01261985). You will be prompted to create your own unique ID after your initial log in.
    • If you need help logging in, contact the 24/7 Helpdesk at 1.888.800.9198 or get help here

Access NJC grants you access to:

  • Course D2L: view your course materials, track your grades, connect with classmates, and more. 
  • Navigate 360: review your academic plan and schedule appointments with your success team.
  • Student Finance: view statements and make payments.
  • Financial Aid: access financial aid data and Forms.
  • Housing: complete your housing application.
  • Student Life: complete your Alocholwise, Cannabiswise, and Consent and Respect.
  • Student Email: Email your instructors and NJC staff.
  • Military Benefits
  • Registration- The specific time frame is designated by the academic calendar and is open to all students.
  • Standard Registration Periods
  • NJC’s academic year is three semesters (summer, fall, spring). Full Term registration periods pertain to credit courses that start the first week of the semester (full term) and courses. Intercession Courses (2-week accelerated courses) are available each semester generally the two weeks prior to each term:  August term, January term, and May term.
  • Add Period- Students may register (add) a class at the start of the registration period through the first six percent (6%) of the specific course. 
  • Drop Period- Students may drop a class by the census date, the first fifteen percent (15%) of the course duration, without being financially responsible for the class.These courses will not appear on the student’s transcript. 
  • Withdrawal Dates- Any student may withdraw from any course without academic penalty anytime up to and including eighty percent (80%) of total class days. All courses withdrawn during this period will receive the grade “W.” If you wish to withdraw from a course, please talk with your academic advisor or contact the NJC Student Success Center.  
  • If you need to drop a course, it can be completed in Navigate through your Access NJC account or in-person. The Registration Add/Drop form is required for in-person drops.

  • Check your registration status to ensure you can register for classes.  If you have questions about your status, please call the NJC Admissions Office at 970-521-7000.
  • If you have a hold on your student record, it may prevent you from registering for classes. You can check for holds in your Navigate account. 

Academic Advisor Information

  • Who is My Academic Advisor?
  • To find out which NJC Advisor has been assigned to you, log in to Navigate. Your Success Team can be found in the “Appointment” section under “My Team.” If you have not met with your Advisor yet, make an appointment today. It is important to your success to meet with your Advisor before you register for classes. 
  • Make an Appointment
  • *Academic Advisors are assigned once you have been accepted to NJC. Prospective students should contact our Admissions office.
  • *If you are a Concurrent Enrollment student taking college classes in high school, you will meet with your high school counselor for advising. Please contact Kayelani Kirschbaum at 970.521.6663 or Carrie Knudson at 970.521.6675 with specific questions.

If you haven’t already, get your transcripts from your previous college evaluated for transfer to NJC. You can order your transcripts from your former college or university’s transcript or records website. Once they have been evaluated, transfer credits will be posted to your student record. *It is recommended that your transcripts be processed prior to your advising appointment. If that is not possible, please bring a copy to your advising appointment.

If you have been away for a year (3 or more semesters), you will need to be re-admitted to Northeastern Junior College as required by State Law.

Prepare for Your Classes

  • New Students/Transfer Students -Participate in orientation
  • New Students/Transfer Students -Complete Mandatory Alcoholwise, Cannabiswise, and Consent and Respect prior to the first day of class. *A hold will be placed on your student account if this training is not completed.
  • Check your student email for room changes or class cancellations
  • Buy your books before classes start
  • Pay your tuition by the payment deadline
  • Add / Drop / Withdraw courses from your schedule before the deadline
