Cora Johnson

Cora Johnson is currently working on a dual Associate of Science degree with an emphasis in equine science and animal science at Northeastern. She will graduate this spring and continue her education at Colorado State University in pre-veterinary medicine. Cora has been passionate about horses for as long as she can remember, and regards medical advancements in the equine industry fascinating. She would love the opportunity to one day specialize in surgery and utilize the advancements that help horses. Cora is very active on campus. She is the vice president of Northeastern’s PTK chapter, a rodeo team member, peer mentor, an honors student and a residence hall assistant. She has been a top student every semester at Northeastern, being named to the Dean’s list, Vice President’s list and the President’s list. Cora enjoys spending time riding her horses and spending time outdoors.

Chelsea "Amber" Owens

Chelsea “Amber” Owens will graduate from Northeastern this spring with an associate of arts in business. She plans to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and management and a minor in psychology at the University of Northern Colorado. Amber is a single parent of two boys, whom she adores and who encouraged her to go to college to pave a path to a better life for herself and her children. She hopes to set an example that anything is possible. Amber is also active on campus in the business club and as a tutor in the Monahan Learning Center. As a tutor she helps students not only understand the content of lessons, but also to build study skills and confidence in their abilities.

Monika Schmidt

Monika Schmidt is a native of Colorado who grow up in Julesburg. She is currently completing pre-requisite courses she needs to enter the nursing program at Northeastern. Over the past five years she has worked in the health care industry as an administrative assistant, a certified nursing assistant, she currently works as a nursing assistant in the emergency room at Sterling Regional MedCenter. Monika plans to complete an Associate of Science degree in nursing and enter the workforce. She has always had a love for infants. When she observed the care the nurses provided during the births of her own children, Monika decided she would return to school to pursue her dream to become a nurse. Monika would like eventually work in an obstetrics or neonatal intensive care unit at a hospital. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family outdoors and exploring new places. Monika loves being a sports mom, helping coach her kids’ teams and cheering them on from the sidelines.
