Northeastern Spring 2021 Commencement

Northeastern's 2021 Commencement ceremonies are May 14, 2021

Update, May 27, 2021

A virtual commencement ceremony will be broadcast at this link on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. The virtual ceremony will be available to view on our website after the initial broadcast.

Recordings of our recent live commencement ceremonies can be viewed below.

Northeastern will be holding two in-person commencement ceremonies on May 14, 2021.

Here are the recordings for each ceremony:

10:00 am ceremony

2:00 pm ceremony

The virtual ceremony will be on our website, as well as Facebook, beginning Friday, May 28.

Both ceremonies will be held in the Bank of Colorado Event Center main arena. The first ceremony will take place at 10:00 A.M. and will include graduates from the following academic departments:

  • Agriculture
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Fire Science Technologies
  • Health, Math, and Science
  • Nursing

The second ceremony will take place at 2:00 P.M. and will include graduates from the following academic departments:

  • Applied Technology: Auto, Diesel, and Wind
  • Applied Technology: Welding
  • Business and Sports Management
  • Cosmetology
  • Liberal Arts (Criminal Justice, Early Childhood and Elementary Education, History, Music, Philosophy, and Psychology)

Because of capacity limitations due to the COVID pandemic, graduates will only be permitted to invite 2 guests per graduate to keep the attendance at each ceremony at or less than 500. The latest statewide Public Health Order 20-38, issued on April 15, is clear about capacity restrictions. Since Northeastern Junior College is a state owned and operated facility, Northeastern will continue to follow these guidelines through May 16, 2021. This is the final change to the guest policy for Northeastern's spring commencement ceremonies. See the COVID-19 information page for more information.

Tickets for guests will be issued in the Northeastern Bookstore when graduates receive their cap and gown. Each ticket can only be used once. Graduates are responsible for issuing the tickets to their guests. Children 3 and under do not need a ticket for entry, assuming they will be sitting on a parent/guardian's lap. All guests are asked to wear facial coverings.

Following the afternoon commencement ceremony, a reception for graduates and guests will be held at approximately 3:30 P.M. under a tent on the Northeastern lawn just south of Whyman Hall, east of the clock tower. Everyone is invited to attend the reception.

The 2021 Spring Commencement will also be presented as a Virtual Commencement Ceremony, to be aired on YouTube Premiere, Friday, May 28. Check back on this page for updated information about the 90-minute virtual ceremony.

Line-up will take place in the auxiliary gym of the Event Center, beginning one hour before each ceremony. Graduates will pick up their reader card and line up for the procession. During the ceremony, reader cards are used to announce graduate names as they cross the stage. Please leave personal items and valuables with family or friends.

Photos of graduates will be taken during each ceremony. The reader cards will be used by the photographer to send the photo proof to the graduates with pricing and order information. Graduates will need to add an e-mail address to the reader card, or other contact information, for the photographers to reach out to them.

Commencement practice will take place on May 13, 2021 at noon in the Bank of Colorado Event Center.
