Summer Financial Aid and General Information

  1. Applicants must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and must submit all required documents to the Financial Aid Office.  As of this date, funding for summer term will consist of Federal Pell Grants, Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans, and Direct PLUS Loans. To be eligible, you must not have exceeded your annual funding maximum in these programs during the fall and spring semesters.
  2. Grant eligibility will vary per individual student, based on prior aid received and the FAFSA results. To be eligible for federal loans and Colorado Student Grant, the student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the summer term.
  3. Students must be in good standing in accordance with the NJC Satisfactory Progress Policy.  If academic progress has not been met after spring semester, then the finanical aid award for summer semester will be cancelled.  It is the student's responsibility to know wheter they have complied with the policy. Any student receiving summer aid that is not eligible for that aid will be required to immediately repay all funds received. Satisfactory academic progress will be reviewed after the summer term and may affect the following fall semseter.
  4. Students are allowed to receive Federal Pell Grant funds for up to 150% of the student's Pell Grant scheduled award for an award year. The school can use either the current or upcoming FAFSA to determine Pell Grant eligibility. If there is only one FAFSA on file at the time of summer aid awarding, then the summer Pell Grant will be awarded based on the EFC from the FAFSA received.
