The Pathway to CNA program is an integrated education and training program that combines industry focused language instruction with industry-specific workforce training. English language learners with advanced English proficiency (Level 5+), participate in English language instruction for English language skills needed to perform the duties of a CNA while concurrently attending the CNA technical training at NJC in the Nursing program. Through this joint partnership, English language learners develop English language skills for CNA, obtain technical training to prepare for pursuing a career as a CNA and for passing the state exam, and participate in on the job training through clinicals in a health care facility.

Nurse Aides are the first line of direct care to many patients. Providing for the personal care of bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with moving and positioning of patients, nurse aides are in high demand in hospitals, long-term care facilities and home care agencies.

This is a great way for those with the heart to serve others gain income and experience working in a medical or direct care facility. For those considering entering the nursing field as a career, working as a nurse aide will help to develop good bedside care and begin introduction to the field of nursing.
