Work Study Positions

Work study positions are available to those who qualify. To apply for a work study position, you'll need to first have a completed FAFSA. You must apply for positions below, and you will have the ability to select your top three preferences on the application. Your application will be sent directly to the position supervisor(s), and they will reach out to you if they are interested in hiring you.

 

Adult & Community Education - Early Childhood Instructor Aid (ECIA): Provide classroom support of active learning instruction with the children through exploration, age-appropriate lessons. The ECIA will lead individual and small group activities in alignment with the Early Childhood Instructor’s scheduled lesson plan and activities. The ECIA will monitor the children in the classroom in the event the Early Childhood Instructor is out of the classroom. The ECIA will assist in creating Reading Time Together and Parent and Child Time Together activity packets for children enrolled in the program. Early childhood education experience required. Priority will be given to students in the NJC Early Childhood Education program, and must possess creativity for designing literacy themed activities for children and families. Ability to use design tools like Canva or Microsoft Office is strongly preferred. Organizational skills to assist with organizing files, activities, and supplies. Successful completion of background check required.

Adult & Community Education - Office Assistant: Will assist the coordinator and instructors with essential clerical duties including copying, data entry, filing, and other various tasks as assigned. Day and evening hours available. Must have computer skills (Excel and Word), and attention to detail.

Ag Division - Office Assistant: Assist with copy, filing, phone and mail functions of the office. Longer hours are required for FFA contest and banquet preparation. Some duties will require strict adherence to confidentially regulations. Some cleaning and maintenance will be required.

Agriculture - Office Assistant: General Office work, filing, copying, power point manipulation, entering grades on computer, etc. Qualifications: Must be a self-starter with a good work ethic, and be computer literate. Must be able to handle confidential information.

Agriculture - Crop & Soil Science Lab Assistant: Complete tasks such as washing lab apparatuses, assist the Crop & Soil Science instructor in preparing for lab experiments, organizing the lab classroom, assist with greenhouse operations, and grade assignments.

Agriculture - Greenhouse Worker/Assistant: Assist with greenhouse, hydroponic and aquaculture production systems. Some weekend duties may be required. Plant, water and harvest greenhouse materials. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Non-tobacco users preferred. Prefer agriculture majors.

Agriculture - Rodeo Stock Feeding: Feeding, watering, care of practice stock. Set up, tear-down, general maintenance of livestock facility. Hauling of feed, grain and equipment. Qualifications: Must have own vehicle, Must have cell phone, must be enrolled in Rodeo Techniques.

Animal Science/Livestock Judging - Teacher/Coaches Assistant: Responsible for grading assignments & exams; for computing grades & entering them into the grade book; for scoring judging practice cards, & keeping a running total of team member's points. Aid in constructing recruiting materials.

Auto Technology - Lab Assistant: Assist instructors with the preparation of the lab for students. Inventorying and stocking of supplies. Repair and maintenance of lab tools and equipment. Some janitorial duties such as dumping trashcans, restocking soup and towel dispensers, cleaning .

Auto/Diesel/Wind Tech - Office Assistant: Duties will include a wide variety of tasks which basically provide assistance and support to the administrative assistant and the instructors in the Auto/Diesel/Wind Technology programs. Such tasks will include photocopying, grading tests, entering data.

Biology/Chemistry Department - Biology/Chemistry Lab Assistant: Job includes lab preparation for biology and chemistry courses; making copies, grading papers, and doing errands for science instructors. Lab cleanup and maintenance is also performed. Good work ethic and interest in lab work is preferred.

Biology Department - Faculty Assistant: Compile and categorize written materials such as case studies and test questions. Organize and prepare lecture manipulatives for class. Help grade labs and manufacture lecture models. Must have an interest in biological science and have college level reading and writing skills.

Bookstore - Store Assistant: A bookstore work study will utilize clerical skills, maintain inventory, operate the register, empty trash, vacuum, dust, assist with book returns, stock shelves, assist with sales at home games, and provide good customer service.

Business Department - Business Office Assistant: Complete assigned office tasks including grading, compiling data in excel, creating posters and other media in Word and/or Publisher, and other general office tasks. Qualifications: Completion of an Accounting course and strong attention to detail.

Business Department - Office Assistant: Complete assigned office tasks including grading, compiling data in excel, working on promotional materials and other general office duties. Qualifications: proficient with word, excel, PowerPoint and basic web navigation's. Must be detail oriented.

Chemistry Department - Lab Assistant: Set up & take down chemistry labs. Wash dishes & put away dishes. Grade. Good work ethic, good math skills. High School Chemistry preferred.

Criminal Justice Department - Assistant: Assist in the criminal justice department with helping with assignments, and criminal justice activities. Other office duties as assigned.  Must be a criminal justice major.

Diesel Technology - Lab Assistant: Assist instructors with the preparation of lab for students. Inventorying and stocking of supplies. Repair and maintenance of lab tools and equipment. Some janitorial duties such as dumping trashcans, restocking of lab tools and equipment.

Document Center - Office Assistant: Help log in all freight that comes from UPS, post office, and FedEx. Contact students via email that they have packages to pick up. Help with delivery of copy jobs. Learn to run copy jobs on the Xerox equipment. Fold and stuff documents & envelopes.

EMS/Fire/Athletic - Office Assistant: Responsible for cleaning manikins following CPR training courses. Position also requires some light cleaning duties. Some filing and typing may also be required. This position may require customer service.

Equine Management Fair Grounds - Office Assistant: Computer skills, some typing and filing. Must have transportation. Prefer equine management or equine science major.

Equine Management Fair Grounds - Stable Hand: Maintenance of horse corrals, cleaning and maintenance of barn area. Able to groom horses and move hay. Prefer equine management or equine science major. Qualifications: must be able to physically operate a skid steer.

ES French English Department - Office Assistant: Strong writing skills & knowledge of ENG 1021; applicants with an 'A' in ENG 1021 preferred. Job will require filing, delivering around campus, copying, basic cleaning tasks, record keeping, proofreading, & finding very specific information in essays.

ES French Liberal Arts  - Faculty Assistant: Student will work with English faculty member to create/edit instructional videos for English Composition I and II.  Student will also help edit existing PowerPoint and other documents for instructional impact and accessibility.  Video editing and MS Office experience helpful but not necessary.

ES French Liberal Arts - Office Assistant: Student will perform general office duties - answer phones, make appointments, etc. Keyboarding & computer skills an asset, but not necessity. Must be very dependable and be able to man the office alone.

ES French Liberal Arts - Office Assistant: File, Xerox, go to the library to return or puck up DVD's and videos.

ES French Liberal Arts - Gallery Assistant: Student will serve as a host for gallery visitors during the posted weekly hours for the Peter L. Youngers Fine Art Gallery. Will also assist in creating materials for art exhibitions, installing and removing exhibitions, and assisting gallery directors.

ES French Music Department - Office Assistant: Take care of filing and sorting paperwork as well as music, cataloging new music for the instrumental and vocal programs, designing and working on concert programs, general administrative work, and promotional work for upcoming performances.

ES French Theater Department - Stage Tech & Production Assistant: The student would be required to assist with building sets, setting up lighting and moving furniture around in various rehearsals and programming. Other duties include painting, sorting costumes, assisting with scene changes, organizing rehearsal, etc.

Event Center/Athletics - Athletics and Event Center Floater:  Duties would vary daily/weekly to include: clerical duties for Athletics, special Event Center set up/ tear down, and concession supervision.  Fiscal responsibilities in Athletic Department as well as concession stand.  Special qualifications include financial experience with precision for processing reports, ability to remain flexible to duties presented, and thrive in learning new tasks and responsibilities. 

Event Center - Game Management/Ticket Takers: This position is responsible for game management at sporting events, primarily baseball and softball games. Duties include selling tickets, operating the scoreboard, concession stand attendant, and booth announcing. Night and weekend work is required.

Event Center - Game Management/Videographer: This position will be responsible for video recording all Northeastern athletic events and dubbing them for opposing team. The position requires evening and weekend work. Must be responsible, trustworthy and have the ability to work well with others.

Event Center - Game Management/Sound & Lighting Technician: Responsible for all lighting and sound during both Northeastern athletic events and event center games/events. The position requires all music and lighting set-ups to include introduction light shows. This position requires evening and weekend work.

Event Center - Game Management/Scoreboard & Shot Clock: This position will be responsible for operating the scoreboard and/or shot clock during both Northeastern athletic events and event center games/events. Training will be provided. This position requires evenings and weekend work.

Event Center - Game Management/Spot Lighters & Runners: This position will be responsible for operating the spot lights during introductions at both Northeastern athletic events and event center games/events. Training will be provided. Will also help with hospitality room and sweeping.

Event Center - Fitness Center Attendant: Monitor fitness center, including overall health, safety and security of patrons and equipment. Perform daily cleaning tasks as assigned. Prompt attention to schedule is required. Must be willing to be CPR certified.

Event Center - Concession Stand: Responsible for set-up and inventory, as well as lead operations and clean-up of the concession stand during all event center events. May also be assigned to baseball and soccer events. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., have cash handling skills and good customer service.

Event Center Athletics - Women's Volleyball Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center Athletics - Women's Soccer Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center Athletics - Men's Soccer Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center Athletics - Men's Basketball Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center Athletics - Women's Basketball Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center Athletics - Baseball Field Assistant: Responsible for laundry and cleaning uniforms for baseball team. Help with field maintenance and preparation for games. May include other duties, as well as running errands as needed.

Event Center Athletics - Softball Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center - Wrestling Assistant Manager: This position will be responsible for attending all practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Event Center - Sports Medicine Aid: Aid sports medicine staff with set-up for and coverage of athletic practices and games. Setting up water jugs and distributing water during practice and games. Provide basic first aid, taping and administrative work. Prefer athletic training or sports medicine major.

Family Resource Center - Office Assistant/Mentor: General office tasks, assisting with youth programming, and light cleaning. Specific qualifications include responsible and reliable, organized and attention to detail, and positive influence, mentor to youth. 

Financial Aid - Office Assistant: Basic office duties, answering phones, greet and assist customers at the front counter, assist with bulk mailing projects, filing, computer data entry and other duties as assigned. Requirements: ability to alphabetize and proper phone etiquette.

Grounds Maintenance - Assistant: Help with outdoor grounds maintenance. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and able to follow written and verbal work orders.  Ability to work in hot or cold weather conditions.  Have knowledge of operating power equipment, tractors, mowers, and other grounds equipment.  

Human Resource Department - Office Assistant: It's important the student maintain confidentiality of the information from this office. Student must be dependable. Student will be expected to file reports, correspondences, and employee paperwork. Student will also make copies, image and organize files.

Information Technology - Intern: Detail oriented, motivated and have strong work ethic. Familiar with current Windows Operating Systems. Training will occur in the installation and troubleshooting of hardware. Must be able to lift 5-50 lbs., bend, and climb.

Math Department - Office Assistant (K. Stump): Assist in photocopying, grading papers and test reproduction. Qualifications: college level math abilities, completion of calculus preferred.

Math Department - Office Assistant (J. Garrett): Grade papers, help maintain grade book, type quizzes and notes, make copies, clean, and other general office duties. Position requirements: pass MAT 121, be prompt to work and come to work when scheduled.

Math/Science Department - Physics Lab Assistant (C. Gaines): Set-up lab equipment before lab time, and grade physics and math homework. Qualifications: mechanically inclined, dependable and organized. Ideally have previous physics experience, completed MAT 1340 or above.

Math/Science Department - Office Assistant (J. Gettman): Help with a variety of administrative duties including typing, filing, mail, and grading and room maintenance. Students may also be asked to run errands around campus. Qualifications: good work ethic, willing to work, positive attitude and trustworthy.

Monahan Library - Library Assistant: Shelve library materials, shelf reading, dusting and straightening books. Check in/out materials, mail pick-up, some vacuuming, cleaning tables, trash pick-up, and library database instruction. Qualifications: good customer service and communication skills.

Monahan Learning Center - DevEd Math Assistant: Office tasks including grading, counting data, creating documents and spreadsheets, making copies, and light cleaning. Qualifications: successfully completed MAT 055, familiar with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Good organizational and time management skills.

Monahan Learning Center Tutoring - Learning Assistant: Tutor students one-on-one or in small groups for college courses. General office duties include greeting clients, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments. Must have received a 'B' or higher in course you are tutoring. A 3.0 GPA is required.

Nursing Department - Peer Mentor & Tutor: Mentor & tutor students in the Nurse Aide (NA) program. Responsibilities include assisting new students with NA program requirements and navigating class schedules, work load, test taking, & clinicals throughout the semester. Assist in connecting students to community resources & provide tutoring services. Requirements include successful completion of NA Program, Bi-lingual in Spanish, and must be available to host office hours to provide tutoring & support on a weekly basis during the school year (a minimum of 5 hours per week is expected).  

Nursing Department - Office Assistant: Assist with office duties: copying, filing, faxing, pick-up/sort mail, distribute packages, dusting/vacuuming, running errands on campus and other duties. Computer skills, good work ethic, be dependable and prompt. Cannot be a current nursing student.

Pete's Retreat - Retail Food Service: Sweep, mop, stock, wipe down tables, prepare food, take out trash nightly, dress in uniform, be prompt, and assist customers in a quick, accurate and friendly manner. Good customer service skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions a must.

Records - Office Assistant: Basic office duties, computer data entry, scanning, filing, assist with bulk mailing projects and other duties as assigned. Ability to alphabetize. Occasionally make phone calls to students.

Rise Grant - Driver: Responsible for driving students to and from Yuma, CO.  Must have a valid driver's license and will need to document the mileage, fuel up the school car, and follow all requirements for driving a school vehicle.  Must be available to drive Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:45 am - 12:15 pm and 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm.  

Social Media - Assistant: Engage with students and community by attending campus events. Represent Northeastern online through official Northeastern accounts. Plan event coverage, edit photos and create content. Effective communication skills and positive attitude.

Wind Technology - Lab Assistant: Assist instructors with preparation of lab for students. This position is responsible for the inventory and stocking of supplies, repair and maintenance of lab tools and equipment, and some janitorial duties (dumping trash, restocking soap and towel dispensers, and cleaning labs).

Welding - Lab Assistant: Assist with preparation of lab for students. This position is responsible for the inventory and stocking of supplies, repair and maintenance of tools and equipment, and some janitorial duties (dumping trash, and restocking soap and towel dispensers).

The Exchange - Office Assistant: This position is responsible for monitoring The Exchange by taking/making appointments. Must have basic knowledge of cameras and computers.
