Health Care Technician Programs

Emphasizes the planning, writing, and revising of compositions, including the development of critical and logical thinking skills. Covers the physics of mechanics and requires application of classical physics to both mathematical and conceptual problems. Major topics include kinematics in one or two dimensions, Newton's Laws, circular motion, work and energy impulse and momentum, and rotational mechanics. This course may also include topics relating to simple harmonic motion and traveling and standing waves. Includes the study of measurements, atomic theory, chemical bonding, nomenclature, stoichiometry, solutions, acid and base, gas laws, and condensed states. Laboratory experiments demonstrate the above concepts qualitatively and quantitatively. Designed for non-science majors, students in occupational and health programs, or students with no chemistry background. Focuses on basic chemistry and measurement, matter, chemical formulas, reactions, equations, stoichiometry, and thermochemistry. This course covers the development of atomic theory culminating in the use of quantum numbers to determine electron configurations of atoms, and the relationship of electron configuration to chemical bond theory. Meets the requirement for American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR or American Heart Association Basic Life Support for those who work in Emergency Services, Health Care, and other professional areas.
