INTRAMURALS

Intramural Sports (competition within the student body) are set up on a team, dual, and individual basis. Intramural sports stress maximum participation, good sportsmanship, and freedom to choose activities.

INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS: MEN AND WOMEN

Varsity Sports: Northeastern Junior College is home to a dynamic and competitive athletics program led by the Director of Athletics. As a proud member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, NJC competes primarily in Region 9 and sponsors 11 NJCAA Division I varsity sports, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, beach volleyball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, volleyball, and wrestling.

NJC athletics consistently competes on the national stage, with programs such as wrestling, golf, volleyball, and basketball earning appearances in NJCAA national championships and continuing a tradition of excellence.

At NJC, athletics is about more than competition—it’s about building a championship culture. The department is committed to developing student-athletes who excel in the classroom, in competition, and in their communities. With athletes representing a significant part of the NJC student body, the program creates opportunities for students to strengthen leadership skills, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth while pursuing success together on and off the field.

ADDITIONAL ATHLETICS

College athletics at NJC goes far beyond traditional varsity competition—and that’s something we proudly embrace. In addition to our varsity programs, NJC supports a wide range of competitive teams and student opportunities that reflect the interests and passions of our campus community.

Students can compete on NJC’s college-sanctioned Rodeo Team and Livestock Judging Team, while the Equine Program travels throughout the region competing in ranch horse events and showcasing the hands-on skills that define our agricultural heritage. NJC is also home to a competitive Trap Shooting Team, with athletes competing locally while posting scores against community colleges nationwide.

The college’s rapidly growing eSports Team competes in sanctioned collegiate competition, bringing high-level strategy, teamwork, and innovation into the digital arena. NJC also proudly supports a spirited cheer team that helps energize campus events and athletic competitions.

From the arena to the range, the field to the virtual stage, NJC offers students countless ways to get involved, compete, and build community. There is always something happening on our campus—and that energy is a big part of what makes NJC special.
