Department Social Media Properties
If you desire to create a social media account for your department, program, class, team, etc., you MUST first gain approval from the NJC Marketing and Communications Department prior to acquiring or creating the account. If a social media property is established without prior approval from the Marketing and Communication Department, the account may be taken down at any time.
The NJC Marketing and Communications Department:
- Monitors all institutional online entities, social media profiles, blogs, and message boards affiliated with NJC. This includes Facebook pages and groups and accounts on Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat and YouTube.
- Approves social media accounts (including Facebook pages and groups) and other official college digital properties. Also ensures profile pictures, avatars, images, and/or icons meet NJC brand standards.
- Reserves the right to stop activity that inhibits positive, safe and constructive conversation or violates the NJC brand standards.
- Screens any and all posted content on institutional social media entities.
- Removes inappropriate posts (including those containing hateful or abusive remarks, excessive posting or “spamming,” “cyber-bullying” or use of language that violates NJC policies) and bans or blocks disruptive users.
- Can republish, redistribute or otherwise reuse any content posted on our institutional and athletic social media platforms.
Creating a Social Media Presence
Officially recognized college social media accounts and webpages will be reviewed and approved by the Marketing and Communication Department. Before requesting a separate social media presence for your office or department, consider whether you would be better served by working with the Marketing and Communications Department to utilize NJC’s primary social media presence. Before developing an NJC social media site, contact:
