Energy Maintenance Training June 5th – 9th

Participants will gain skills for entry level employment in the energy and manufacturing industry. Monday through Thursday, students will develop skills on welding, oxy-acetylene cutting, precision measurements, mechanical alignments, working at height, multi-meter usage, energy isolation, and electrical wiring.

Students will arrive at 10 am on Monday morning at the Applied Technology Campus. We will get students moved in the dorms and signed up for the OSHA 10 hour course.

Students will receive personal protective equipment that they will keep upon completion of the training. Safety glasses, hard hat, work gloves, welding hood, welding gloves, and LOTO lock. Students need to wear cotton jeans or nonflammable clothing to the training session. Clothing should be free of holes and frays that could present a fire hazard.

Students will earn their Adult CPR & AED certification (upon completion of the online training and skills test) and start the OSHA 10 hour certification. Students will receive instructions on the CPR course to sign-up and complete the pre-class training with American Red Cross. Please bring a laptop or tablet to work on the OSHA course in the evenings. Once the OSHA course is completed, NJC will send the OSHA 10 card in the mail to the home address. Students will have 6 months to complete the OSHA course and receive their certification card.

On Friday, the training will end with resume and cover letter development and mock interviews. We are planning on having employers in-person or virtually to work with participants interested in starting a new career.

Cost for the training is $1450 for the week starting on Monday, June 5th. This includes housing (Monday through Thursday night), breakfast, and lunch. Participants will be on their own for dinner.

After signing up, you should receive an emailed invoice. Students can pay for the training session by contacting the NJC Cashier’s office prior to June 1st.

Students are encouraged to seek assistance with their local Colorado Workforce Centers (https://cdle.colorado.gov/wfc) if this training is needed to upskill or retrain for a new career.
