Wendy Bredehoft "The Carissa Gold Mine Project: Rhythm and Resilience" Artist Talk

Wendy Bredehoft will discuss her artwork from "The Carissa Mine Project," based on research and artistic response to a historical gold mine located in South Pass City, a State Historic Site, in south-central Wyoming.

During multiple residencies in 2017, 2018, and 2019, Wendy worked as a part of a 3-person artistic team that also included photographer Susan Moldenhaer and dancer/choreographer Margaret Wilson. With full access to the Carissa Gold Mine, they engaged with its history and created art from their experiences to capture the nuances of years of tactile use and abandonment, bringing fresh perspective to the rich history of the site, adding understanding, empathy and beauty.
