The Northeastern Junior College rodeo recently wrapped up a very successful fall season,  with the women’s team qualifying for 5 out of 5 shorts, a first in Shelby Winchell’s six years of coaching the team.

Overall, the women’s team currently sits in fifth place out of 14 teams in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. The age range of competitors in the region is 18-26, with both junior college and state/university students competing.

Up and coming Freshman Kinley Greenough “was just out of making it to all 5 short rounds with major mistakes” and Winchell said she looks forward to her accomplishments in the spring season. Meanwhile, Plainswoman Wacey Day is currently in fifth place in the region in goat tying out of 47 competitors.

“Overall, the team improved massively in a short amount of time. I look forward to their progress in the off-season as we finish this semester’s academics and prepare for the five rodeos in the spring season!” Winchell said.
