NJC men’s golf headed to NCJAA National Championship

After closing out their regular season in second place overall in the Region IX standings the Northeastern Junior College men’s golf team is headed to the NJCAA National Championship in Odessa, Texas, May 10-13.

The team secure their trip to nationals with a second place finish at the Eastern Wyoming College Tournament April 26-27. Northeastern scored a 292 on the first day of play to put them in second place and the next day they shot 290, for a total score of 582, putting them just just behind Eastern Wyoming College, who shot 579.

Northeastern’s Jackson Rottschafer gave an outstanding performance, scoring 138, which put him in a tie for first place with Ethan Gough of McCook Community College and Brendan Thomas of Eastern Wyoming College.

Not far behind Rottschafer was Matthew Campbell, who shot 144 to put him in fifth place. Trey Kuntz shot 148 to tie for seventh place, Alex Tanner shot 153 to finish 17th, Mason Bernard shot 155, putting him a four-day tie for 21st place, Mateo Salcido shot 157 to tie for 26th, Phil Arnold shot 164 to tie for 33rd and Jacob Dollarhide shot 170 to finish in 36th place.
