Northeastern Cancels 2020 Spring Commencement

Plans for an alternative graduation ceremony now under consideration as social distancing to curb the spread of coronavirus remains the norm

March 23, 2020

Northeastern Junior College today announced it will not move forward with original plans to conduct its spring commencement ceremony. The popular event, which was expected to draw a capacity crowd of spectators at the Bank of Colorado Events Center on campus on May 15, is canceled until further notice.

“We’re evaluating other safer ways we could enable graduating students to formally celebrate and be recognized for their achievements, but for now it’s just not possible for us to think the COVID-19 pandemic will have abated by then,” said Jay A. Lee, president of Northeastern.
