Math and Science Club

The Northeastern Junior College Math and Science Club is open to all NJC students. We meet in Phillips-Whyman Hall, room 201 each Thursday from 4:10 to 5:00 PM. Outdoor recreational activities include Frisbee golf, hiking, water rockets, and star parties (set up telescopes and view celestial objects), where we also roast hot dogs and marshmallows). During the cold months, indoor activities include mad scientist experiments, hydrogen rockets, socializing, refreshments, chess with Mr. Gains once a month and more. During spring, weather permitting, we hike in the Front Range foothills. We carry out a variety of community service activities such as a Halloween food drive, highway trash pickup, science fair judging, and plastic bottle recycling. The club sponsors the Math and Science Outstanding Students Awards each spring. For fall 2020 we will need to temporarily abandon some activities, such as those involving food, in favor of activities that more easily allow for physical distancing and the wearing of masks. Let’s hope that by spring we will be able to resume or normal activities.
