Scholarship Opportunities at Northeastern
Northeastern annually awards more than $1million in scholarships*. Many recognize specific qualities such as where you are from, special or unique talents, first generation students, athletics, rodeo, livestock judging, and other designated areas.
To be considered for many Northeastern scholarships, you must apply for admission, submit a high school transcript, and complete the necessary scholarship applications no later than March 1st prior to your anticipated fall enrollment. Additional scholarships requiring a separate application, portfolio, personal interview, or tryout are also available. If you have a special or unique talent not listed below, inquire about additional scholarship opportunities available on our campus.

Scholarships requiring separate application or tryout:
NJC Talent Scholarships - Northeastern talent scholarships are awarded to students enrolled fulltime and meet the requirements of individual programs and regional or national affiliations.
Ag and Technical Scholarships - Additional Agriculture or Technical scholarships are available. Students enrolling in agriculture or technical programs are encouraged to complete the Ag/Tech Scholarship application. Department committees select scholarship recipients after thorough review. - Northeastern Student Aspiration Scholarships - Apply Now | Priority Deadline March 1
NJC Student Aspiration Scholarships are designed for new students entering their first year at Northeastern. A large emphasis will be placed on the essay and any recommendations the student obtains from alumni, teachers or community leaders. Northeastern Junior College values well rounded, aspiring students with involvement in their school, community, and outside organizations. These scholarships are designed to assist students with the costs of entering college, and are awarded to students in amounts of $250-$1000 who meet the requirements. Students must submit scholarship application, essay, and high school transcript for consideration.
- Colorado Centennial Scholars - Apply Now | Priority Deadline March 1
These merit scholarships are offered to outstanding Colorado high school students who meet specific academic criteria outlined by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, and are to be awarded to those students who meet the requirements (cumulative high school GPA 3.75). To apply, you must be accepted for admission to NJC prior to March 1st, and you must submit the Colorado Centennial Scholars application prior to March 1st. Scholarships may be renewable if the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher his/her freshman year.
- Community Foundation Scholarships - Apply Now | Deadline March 1
These scholarships are for all current high school seniors planning to attend Northeastern in the fall. Each year a number of scholarships are awarded to students based not only on high school academic performance, but also in recognition of special talents, interests, community and school involvement or experience in positions of leadership. - Departmental Scholarships - Apply Now | Priority Deadline March 1
The Departmental Scholarships reward new NJC students interested in specific academic areas. These scholarships will be awarded in amounts of $500 to those students who meet the requirements. Students must submit scholarship application, essay, and high school transcript for consideration.
- Non-Traditional Student Scholarships - Various Deadlines
These scholarships are all for Non-traditional students. Non-traditional students are defined as single parents, parents, over traditional age (typically mid-twenties and up), GED recipients, etc.
Some of the scholarships are for incoming freshmen, some for continuing NJC students. Some are renewable. Please click here for descriptions of the different scholarships.

Certain scholarships are designated for sophomore students who demonstrate desirable scholastic performance and citizenship during the freshman year. Others, awarded to entering freshmen, are renewable during the sophomore year upon satisfactory performance. Of those which are renewable, some may be reassigned should the original recipient be disqualified or not return to school.
