Danen Jobe

Prior to joining NJC in October of 2017, Danen Jobe had a long career in academics, starting at the University of Arkansas, where he received his MFA in English and Writing. He also taught at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith before moving to Colorado Springs and joining Pikes Peak Community College as an adjunct of English in 2007. After doing this for two years (as well teaching junior high and high school English), he became a full time English Faculty member at PPCC in 2009, and a department chair for English/CCR in 2011. During his four years as department chair, he assisted the college in transitioning its Developmental Education program to the new CCCS taskforce recommendations, and participated in a Department of Labor grant where he worked on modularizing Developmental English curriculum to meet Career and Tech student needs, assisting them in career advising and student success in the process. During this time, he also modified the program to meet transitioning veteran needs at Fort Carson, and helped win two ten thousand dollar private grants to create the Veteran’s Math and English Prep program.

In 2015, he accepted the position of Associate Dean of Humanities for PPCC, supervising nine departments and up to twenty-nine faculty while also assisting a successful proposal for a million dollar arts grant from the Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation to build a new creative commons. He brings great enthusiasm, a heart for innovation, and a passion for student success to NJC.

He and his wife, Heather, have three boys ranging from ten to eighteen. They are excited about returning to a smaller community where they can once again pursue their love of raising a few animals and building a large garden.
