Students drawing in class.Northeaster Junior College has a legacy in arts education in Northeastern Colorado. Our program is bolstered by a new drawing studio, painting studio, stained glass studio, and a ceramics studio. We offer classes for a variety of skill levels in drawing, painting, design, ceramics, and photography.

Students are taught techniques in studio classes to help them realize their artistic goals, learn about art, explore with materials, and express themselves. In addition to studio classes, art appreciation and art history courses are part of our curriculum. Regular trips to Denver’s art museums and galleries round out our student’s exposure to the art world.

NJC has two operating art galleries on campus. The Sanderson gallery houses our permanent collection of works by William Sanderson, a major Colorado painter from the last century. The Youngers gallery hosts rotating shows from guest artists, student artists, and regional art exhibitions.
