Automotive and Diesel Tool Set Scholarship

The NJC Transportation and Energy department will award up to four tool set scholarships annually to returning freshman students for the full sophomore years’ classes in the Automotive Technology or Diesel Technology Programs. These students will have shown an exceptional potential for success in the transportation repair industry. The recipients of these scholarships are to be awarded tool carts and selected tool sets in the fall semester of their sophomore year of training.

To qualify, a student must have successfully completed one year of the Program training and planning to complete the second year's training. The student must have attained a minimum grade point average of 2.5 after their first year in the Program and shall be required to maintain that standard during the second year to retain the tools and cart scholarship.

To retain ownership of the tools and cart after graduation the student will have received an AAS degree while maintaining at least a 2.5 grade point average. Failure to fulfill these criteria will result in forfeiture of the scholarship and return of the toolbox and tools.

Selection will be made by 3 NJC faculty, staff, or administrative personnel after a Freshman has applied in writing.  Personal interviews may be arranged, if needed.  For further information, a student should contact the Automotive/Diesel Technology Faculty.
