Kasey Jo Walker Warner Scholarship
The recipient of this $1,000 scholarship must be a full-time freshman or sophomore student at NJC. The student must have graduated from a Logan County, CO or Furnas County, NE high school, or from Prairie, Pawnee, Briggsdale, or Akron high schools in Colorado. The recipient must be majoring in Agriculture, Science, or Education. Preference will be given to students majoring specifically in Agriculture Education or Science Education.
Applicants must submit unofficial transcripts and a cover letter that includes the following information:
- a statement of why applicant should be considered;
- a list of clubs and activities applicant is or was involved with at Northeastern;
- scholarships or other financial aid received to attend Northeastern; and
- what his/her future plans are after leaving Northeastern.
This scholarship was created in 2010 by funds raised by Feeders and Friends, a local group of farmers, feedlot owners and ranchers. The scholarship was founded in the name of Kasey Jo Walker Werner, a young mother who was killed in a tragic pedestrian car accident. This scholarship aims to help students who are majoring in the areas of agriculture, education and science.
