On April 23, 2021, Northeastern Junior College (NJC) President, Jay Lee, announced his retirement on December 31, 2021, concluding a 35-year career as a two-year college educator and leader. The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) Chancellor has initiated a search for the next NJC President.
CCCS is committed to a thorough and inclusive search process which will identify the best leader for NJC. This effort will be led by Christina Cecil, CCCS Chief Human Resources Officer. A president search advisory committee of NJC stakeholders has been formed to assist in the selection process. You can find the list of committee members on the Presidential Search Advisory Committee page.
In order to fully define the qualifications and characteristics needed in the next president, NJC faculty, staff, students and stakeholders are asked to provide input. This input will be gathered through virtual town halls and the NJC President Feedback survey. Feedback from the town halls and survey will be used by the search advisory committee and the CCCS Chancellor to finalize a position profile that will be made available to prospective candidates. The NJC position profile will also serve as a guiding document during the candidate selection process.
Our goal is to finalize the NJC President Position Profile in June. Ms. Cecil will spend the Summer and early Fall establishing a candidate pool for the search advisory committee to begin assessing in the Fall. We invite you to submit candidate nominations through this link: Your candidate nomination. The strongest candidates from the pool will be identified as finalists and invited to meet with the NJC campus stakeholders. Our expectation is that a final selection will be announced in December 2021, prior to the close of the Fall semester.
We know you are excited about this process and what is to come. The NJC community will be updated through this webpage where appropriate details about this search will be shared publicly. Please understand it is important for us to adhere to a process where our candidates can rely on the discretion of those involved in the search process and our guarantee of confidentiality.
