Dual enrollment, Dual Credit, or Post Secondary Option (PSEO). Basically, all three terms mean the same thing.
What are Dual Enrollment courses?
Made possible by the Colorado State Legislature, these college courses offer a variety of options to qualified high school students to provide excellence in education. Dual enrollment courses allow students to take college level courses for both high school and college credit. How do I know if Dual Enrollment (PSEO) is right for me?
Are you motivated, responsible, and looking for a challenge? Do you want to knock out college credits by taking college classes for both high school and college credit? If so, you are a great candidate for PSEO credit.What are the advantages of taking dual credit college and high school credits?
- You could graduate from college early
- You would save yourself and/or your parents money
- You could take care of Pre-requisites for your college degree
Can you explain eligibility?
- High School students must be in the 11th or 12th grade
- Students under 16 years of age must complete an underage waiver form
- Accuplacer or ACT/SAT test scores must place students at the college level
- College courses taken must be academic
How do I find out if I am ready for Dual Enrollment?
All dual enrollment students must complete Accuplacer testing through NJC or provide current qualifying ACT/SAT Reading, English, and Math scores by the time you register for courses.What are the Accuplacer/ACT requirements for Dual Enrollment classes?

How do I insure that the classes taken will fulfill college graduation requirements?
That is a great question. If you have already selected a major, select your major from the program list and use the information found there to make your course selection(s). If you have not decided upon a major, select the Liberal Arts advising guide and use it. You do need to be aware that in meeting today's college graduation requirements there are few, if any, electives available. Additionally, it is wise to select a major early.How much could I really save?
If you completed 12 credits during your junior year and 12 credits your senior year for a total of 24 credits, this could easily save you $2000. This doesn't even include the fact that more than likely still living at home and not paying for housing.Are there other options to earn college credit besides Dual Credit/PSEO?
You might also earn college credits by taking the College-Level-Examination Program or CLEP at NJC. CLEP gives students of any age the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses.
Your high school might also offer AP courses. The advantage of PSEO courses over AP courses is that with a dual credit course you have multiple assessments throughout a course, whereas, AP credit is determined by your score on a single exam.
