Program Description

The Northeastern Junior College Astronomy Program is a four semester sequence designed to prepare you for entrance into a university level chemistry program.

Points of Distinction

An outstanding faculty composed of dedicated instructors with expert knowledge in their field of study. Excellent preparation for the advanced study of chemistry. Small class size with low student to teacher ratio, making instruction more personal. In addition to assistance provided by your professors, NJC offers free tutoring for all required subjects in the Comprehensive Learning Center.  

Student Activities

The NJC Math and Science Club provides opportunities to socialize with other science students, participate in field trips.

Program Expectations

Upon completion of this program of study, you will have the core science and mathematical knowledge necessary for success in your pursuit of chemistry or other science degrees.  In addition, you will have completed the general education core classes and have earned an Associate of Science Degree.

Facilities

Classrooms are equipped with the latest technology, and a small faculty-to-student ratio helps ensure your success. Updated classrooms with Smart board technologies and hands on experiments help engage the learner and promote student understanding. 

Resources

NJC's Comprehensive Learning Center (CLC) exists to make the most of learners’ educational experience by assisting students in the adjustment to campus life and the rigors of academic study.  The CLC provides a variety of services to improve retention and graduation rates of NJC students, including free tutoring, instruction in developmental studies, Adult Basic Education, academic support, and services for disabled students that are learning-centered, accessible, and effective.
