Hands on instruction in real life situations makes the Police Academy at Northeastern a great place to begin your POST certification training.
What you'll learn
This basic law enforcement training program is designed to provide students with the preparatory and certification course work required to work in one of the most demanding fields in America.
All instructors are career professionals
actively involved in the specialty areas they teach. In this program, students will develop competencies in the demanding, exciting and personally rewarding world of law enforcement.
Instruction focuses on the following areas:
  • The criminal justice system
  • Basic law
  • Investigations
  • Patrol procedures/fitness
  • Communications
  • Traffic control/investigations
  • Defensive tactics/arrest procedures
  • Use of firearms
  • Police driving
Police Academy 1
Learning arrest procedures is a part of the training you will receive. Many women have gone through the program and are now employed in law enforcement.
A considerable amount of time is spent on practical, hand-on training. Life-like scenarios are used in training for vehicle accident investigation, domestic violence, and crime scene management. Facilities include: firing range, air-conditioned classrooms, driving range, computer simulators, and fitness/wellness at the Bank of Colorado Event Center.
