HAS YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER REGISTERED FOR SPRING

Your son or daughter should have registered for spring semester classes already.  If they have an outstanding account balance, this may have prevented them from being able to register.

If they earned a "D or F" in any fall semester course, they need to check with their academic advisor or the advising center to see if they need to adjust their spring class schedule.

If they are a sophomore and plan to graduate in either May or August, they should have applied for graduation.  If they haven't, the deadline to do so is February 29th.

If they plan to graduate in May, have a high GPA, and plan to transfer to either UNC or CSU, we would enourage them to apply for the Griffin Foundation Scholarships.  These are $10,000 per year awards and they are renewable for their senior year in college.  Nearly 25% of the Griffin scholarships that have been awarded over the years have gone to NJC students.

COLLEGE GOAL SUNDAY

College Goal Sunday will be held February 10, 2008 at 14 campuses across the state of Colorado.  NJC will be hosting one of the sites.  Students and parents can get help completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).  The FAFSA is a critical first step for students who plan to pay for college with the help of grants, scholarships, student emplyment, and student loans.   Two $500 scholarships will be given away in a drawing.  Visit College Goal Sunday or email susan.vanpelt@njc.edu for more information.
