How Hybrid Courses Work
Hybrid courses meet in
the classroom about half as
much time as a regular
classroom course. The rest
of the course is taught
online, where you may view
lecture materials,
participate in discussions,
complete assignments, and
take quizzes and tests.
Hybrid science courses often
use the online part of the
course to cover all the
course content and use
classroom meetings for
laboratory work.
The online part of hybrid
courses uses software called
WebCT. You can access WebCT
from your computer using
a standard web browser.
Getting Started
You should sign into the online portion of your hybrid course on the first day of the semester, even if the classroom part of your course does not start until later. This is especially important for hybrid science courses, which move very quickly.
Course Information
Hybrid courses are listed along with classroom courses in the main body of the schedule.
How to Login to Your Hybrid Course
Enrolled students will be able to access the WebCT course a few days before class starts. Prior to this, you can see an overview of the course, including instructor contact information and required textbooks, on the Online Learning section of the web site by following the links under Course Schedules & Information.
To access your course, please follow the links to set up your computer, determine your user name and password, and login. You must login to start the course -- your instructor will not contact your first.
You are also welcome to come to one of our orientation sessions for online courses. The sessions are not required but can make a difference in your success as a student. Pre-registration is not required for orientation sessions. Sessions are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour in length.
