Information for Advisors
Financing a student's education doesn't end with the students freshmen year. Whether they are attending returning to NJC or transferring to a four-year institution, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as scholarship applications each year during their college education.
The following is a checklist for you to give to your adivsees to help them with financial aid deadlines.
- If needed, apply for your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your PIN allows you to complete your FAFSA online, as well as, making corrections and checking the status of your application.
- Begin completing scholarship applications. Watch for deadlines, most applications are due by March 1 each year.
- Have you and/or your parents' Federal Taxes completed as soon as possible.
- Begin completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as January 1.
- Complete your FAFSA before March 1. Funding for certain programs (work study and grants) is limited and awarded on a first come first served basis.
If students have questions, or would like assistance with their applications have them visit with the Financial Aid Office. We are here to help!
