CPR and First Aid

As a part of the Extended Studies Department, Health and Safety offers cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes to lay responders and professional rescuers.

American Red Cross LogoLay responder courses teach CPR for the workplace, schools, and the community. Different components can be provided in any or all of the following areas: what to do before providing care, breathing emergencies, cardiac emergencies, choking, adult, child, and infant CPR, first aid which includes soft tissue injuries, injuries to bones, muscles, and joints, sudden illnesses, heat and cold related emergencies, use of an artificial external defibrillator (AED), blood borne pathogens training, anaphylactic shock, and assisting with an asthma inhaler.

Professional Rescuer CPR (CPR PR)courses utilize the same basic techniques as lay responder cpr courses with the addition of abdominal thrusts, two person cpr, use of a bag-valve-mask, and pocket mask. Participants with current CPR PR cards are eligible to take a CPR PR Review class instead of taking the entire course over.

Aquatics classes are available in Lifeguard Training (LGT) and First Aid (FA), LGT and FA Review, CPR for the Professional, and Water Safety Instruction (WSI).

Universal certificates of completion are available for participants who meet all course requirements for that particular Health and Safety course.

Classes are bargain priced, require minimal time, meet OSHA requirements, fit your schedule -- days, evenings and weekends.

Also available for College Credit!
