Northeastern Athletics-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Northeastern Junior College Sports Medicine
The program in Sports Medicine has an emphasis in athletic training. it will instruct students in the techniques of this growing profession and prepare them for the time when they transfer to a CAAHEP (Commission on Accrediatation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited four-year school to continue thier education in athletic training. The program has attracted tremendous interest from students due to its unique balance of traditional classroom education and hands-on experience. Northeastern Junior College provides a special opportunity to its athletic trainers and are assigned to work with one of the four varsity athletic programs. Such experience is usually reserved for junior and senior students at four year institutions. In addition to providing education opportunities for students, the Sports Medicine program provides much needed medical attention to NJC's many student athletes including injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. Heading up this program is Nate Kelley, a certified athletic trainer (ATC) by the National Athletic Trainer's Association. Nate is in his first year. To contact Nate you can email him at nate.kelley@njc.edu or (970) 521-6674.
