NJC's Wattley Inks Letter of Intent to 4-Year School

June 24, 2010

Dawn Wattley brings the ball up the floor. The Northeastern Junior College women’s basketball program is keeping a strong tradition alive, graduating and sending its student-athletes on to compete at the next level. The recruiting class of 2008 proves to be no different than the classes that came before them. Dawn Wattley, player at NJC from 2008-2010,  has signed a letter of intent to play at the next level.

Dawn Wattley, a 5’8” shooter from Denver, CO, is one of the most competitive Plainswomen to ever put on an NJC uniform.  She has signed a scholarship to attend Concordia University in Austin, Texas.  This past season Dawn averaged 10 points per game while guarding the opposing teams’ best offensive player.  Dawn’s toughness and fiery attitude was contagious amongst the Plainswomen team.

“Dawn hated to lose and her winning attitude was contagious and spread like a wild fire throughout our team,” notes Huss. “We assigned her the toughest match up defensively to challenge her on a nightly basis and she arose to the challenge.  Dawn will be missed immensely.”
