Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Students wishing to pursue a career in veterinary medicine must first prepare themselves to apply to vet school. This is an extremely rigorous academic program with a tremendous amount of biology, chemistry, and upper level mathematics courses. This program of study is designed so the student works towards completing the pre-professional requirements for vet school. You cannot obtain a four-year degree in pre-vet medicine, and since very few get accepted into vet school after their junior year, at some point you have to select a major that leads to a bachelor degree. In the agriculture area, most students elect to major in Animal Science with a science concentration.
