Ben Cooley grew up Olathe, CO where he was very active in the local 4-H program, showing cattle, sheep and swine.  He earned an Associate of General Studies degree from Northeastern Junior College in 2001 and was a member of the Livestock Judging Program coached by Mr. Larry Pollart.  In addition, Mr. Cooley graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Animal Science and a Master of Agriculture degrees.  He was also a member of the 2002 Reserve National Champion Livestock Judging Team while attending CSU.

Mr. Cooley worked for Adams County Cooperative Extension for several years as their Livestock Agent and 4-H Livestock Judging Coach.  During his tenure, the team was lucky enough to win the State Contest and go on to represent Colorado at the National Contest in Louisville, KY. During this time period Ben was also a lobbyist intern for the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, as he worked at the Colorado State Capital during the spring session of 2004.  During the 2005-06 school year Mr. Cooley worked for Dodge City Community College as their Livestock Judging Coach/Farm and Ranch Manager.  While at Dodge City he taught Animal Science classes, managed the cowherd for the college and coached students in livestock evaluation.

Mr. Cooley joined the NJC Agriculture Faculty in the fall of 2006 as their Livestock Judging Coach and Animal Science Instructor.  He teaches classes in Animal Science, Ag Sales, Anatomy and Physiology and Livestock Evaluation while also coaching the Livestock Judging Team with Mr. Pollart.
