Nov. 15, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – Northeastern Junior College is proud to announce that Kendra Anderson of Akron, Colo. will fill the vacant Advisory Council seat recently vacant after Bryce Monasmith of Akron, Colo. completed his four-year term at the end of June 2018.

Anderson brings a strong connection to K-12 instruction and small rural communities. She is currently the Superintendent for the Otis School District, with previous experience serving as the Director of Special Projects for Northeast Colorado Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) and was a Principle with the Lone Star School District. 

“Kendra is a strong advocate to partnerships between community colleges and K-12 district operations, and she is very well aware of how Northeastern serves the small communities of its service area,” stated Jay Lee, President of Northeastern.

The Northeastern Advisory Council is comprised of seven representatives of the college’s diverse constituencies within its service area. The Advisory Council advises the college president on the long-term educational needs of the area served by the college; serves as liaison between the college and area employers in order to facilitate assessment of employment, training and educational needs of the service area; serves as liaison between the college and local school boards, county commissioners, city councils, other local, elected officials and other relevant groups or persons; and promotes the college’s programs and services among the communities and constituencies in the college’s service area.
