Thanks to an anonymous donor and local businesses, a new stock trailer helps department with academic and rodeo needs.

May 18, 2018, Sterling, CO – Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Foundation is pleased to announce an anonymous donor, along with Cargill Nutrena and Transwest of Sterling, donated funds to the NJC Agriculture Department to purchase a 2018 Cimarron Common Stock Trailer.

The trailer will help Northeastern students travel to college-related events, for programs such as Equine Management, Equine Science, and Ranch Horse Versatility as well as the Rodeo and Livestock Judging teams.

Kathy Reinhardt, NJC Foundation Director, was contacted by the anonymous donor to inquire about the current needs of the NJC agriculture department, and together Reinhardt and Mike Anderson, NJC agriculture department chair, brought the agriculture department together to determine the department’s greatest needs. After Anderson spoke with the donor, the decision was made to increase the donation amount to help purchase a new stock trailer for the department.

The anonymous donation was just the start of making the purchase of the new stock trailer a reality. When Cargill Nutrena and Transwest of Sterling received word that the NJC agriculture department was looking to purchase a new stock trailer, both companies agreed to help with the purchase.

“We are very appreciative of this funding and the NJC Champions we collaborate with. This is a great example of the difference we can make for NJC students, when we team up with donors, to have a larger impact within our community,” said Kathy Reinhardt.
