May 7, 2018, Sterling, Colo. – Northeastern Junior College (NJC) honored Ronda Monheiser for her 31 years of continuous service on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at a reception held in the E.S. French Hall Atrium on the NJC campus.

Ronda spent all 31 years as an instructor in the business department at NJC, and taught nearly all of the classes offered, focusing on macroeconomics, microeconomics and statistics in the later part of her career. Ronda has represented the college at the state and national levels on the State Faculty Advisory Council and the Colorado Faculty Advisory Council, and presented at various education and marketing conferences.

During the reception, coworkers and friends recalled stories about their time at NJC with Ronda, many of which sharing how they will miss Ronda’s unique and infectious laughter that would carry throughout the halls.

“If you wanted to find students engaged and engrossed in their course content, just visit Ronda’s class,” said Stanton Gartin, Executive Vice President.

Ronda was presented with many accolades throughout her time with NJC, to include Colorado State Board for Community Colleges Teacher of the Year, Joel E. Mack Award, and the Jerome F. Wartgow Teaching in Technology Award, to name a few. All of her hard work and dedication to her students did not go unnoticed. Brenda Lauer, former Vice President of Administration at Pikes Peak Community College, shared, “she would work clear into the night...she gave tirelessly, she gave all to her students.”

NJC is honored to have had an instructor like Ronda to help build the bridge to students futures and to mentor new instructors. “[Ronda’s] legacy is more than just a laugh…the great impact and real pleasure all of us had working with you, you will always be a Plainswoman and a part of the Northeastern team,” said President Jay Lee.
