Celeste Delgado Celeste Delgado-Pelton, Director of Liberal Arts

January 8, 2018, Sterling, CO – Celeste Delgado-Pelton, Director of Liberal Arts at Northeastern Junior College, is the 2017 recipient of the Jerome Wartgow Teaching with Technology Award. The award recognizes full-time faculty within the Colorado Community College System for excellence in using educational technologies to meaningfully improve teaching and learning.

In addition to her department chair duties, Delgado-Pelton is a music professor teaching Survey of World Music and Music Theory. Since NJC became an iPad college she has embraced the opportunity to enhance her classroom and engage her students by implementing different apps, including Nearpod. Nearpod is a class/student participation app that allows Celeste to use slides, videos, and images in engaging activities that include virtual reality field trips, SWAY presentations, open-ended questions, polls, collaborative bulletin boards and drawing screens.

In addition Delgado-Pelton became a certified Apple Teacher. This certification enabled her to work with her peers in one-on-one sessions and in-service programs to introduce apps and iPad techniques to aid in the success in increasing student engagement.

“Celeste dove into the iPad initiative, taking every training opportunity, visiting with the Apple trainers, trying new techniques and organizing her classes in a completely different and high-tech way,” said President Jay Lee.

Delgado-Pelton will be honored by CCCS at their annual Faculty of the Year Awards Luncheon in February.
