Statement from the President

It was brought to my attention that a picture has been in social media circulation involving one of Northeastern Junior College’s employees. This picture was taken during a private event not affiliated with Northeastern Junior College. While Northeastern supports the First Amendment and an individual’s right to express themselves, the college does not condone the views expressed through this picture.

The message expressed in this picture is not consistent with the vision, mission and beliefs of Northeastern Junior College. At Northeastern, we strive to provide the best possible educational, cultural, and social experiences within a positive and supportive learning environment.

I support an individual’s right to express their personal opinion in their own personal way. However, I hope people can look past this incident and understand that Northeastern Junior College is an institution devoted to the principles of equality, diversity and student success.

Jay A. Lee, President
