Sterling, CO, January 25, 2017 – Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Livestock Judging Team recently competed at the National Western Stock Show in January. On January 12, 2017 a team consisting of sophomores Kayla Frink - Eaton, CO, Logan Henry – Joes, CO, Cody Hill – Loudon, TN, Nicolas Ortner – Holyoke, CO and Jessie Stewart – Johnstown, CO competed in the Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest. The sophomore team competed against 30 teams from across the United States, placing tenth overall.

The following week NJC competed in the National Bison Judging Contest, where the teams took first, second and third place. NJC freshman Tiffaney Connelly – Bridgeport, NE, an Agriculture Education major, was named National Champion, she received a $1,500 scholarship. Logan Henry, an Agriculture Education major, was named Reserve National Champion Individual, he received a $1,200 scholarship.
The NJC Livestock Judging Team will be traveling to Fort Worth, TX to complete in the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, February 3, 2017.
