Northeastern Junior College Director of Financial Aid Alice Weingardt awards a $500 scholarship to Miss Rodeo Logan County 2016 Abbey Brower at NJC’s Hays Student Center.

Abbey Brower received a $500 scholarship to Northeastern Junior College on Tuesday, July 5, as part of her Miss Rodeo Logan County 2016 honor. She’s having an active summer representing Logan County at different fairs across Colorado as well as working, playing basketball and taking care of her horses. Brower will be a senior at Sterling High School in the fall, and she has already taken some college courses through NJC’s concurrent enrollment program.

Brower says she wants to attend NJC after high school because she has seen firsthand the desire and expertise of faculty and staff to help all students succeed. She likes how the smaller atmosphere gives teachers the opportunity to make sure students connect different aspects of study to make for a better learning experience.
At this point, Brower would like her higher education studies to emphasize agriculture and says agriculture business might be her eventual area of focus.
