Northeastern Junior College, during its annual spring Phi Theta Kappa induction ceremony, welcomed 46 new members into the Zeta Theta Chapter, an international honor society for two-year colleges. The PTK membership at Northeastern now numbers 77 students for the 2013-2014 year. Prior to this induction, there were 31 PTK members on campus.

Students were inducted during a banquet held in late March. Keynote speaker for the evening was Mike Anderson, director of the agriculture division on campus. Others helping with the induction included Northeastern College President Jay Lee, Vice President of Academics and PTK Advisor Deb Walker who is a professor in the business division. 

Those present for the induction ceremony this year, many accompanied by their parents,  included: Sidney Mesaric King (Montrose), Jelena Cobanovic (Serbia), Cortney Crocker (Kiowa), Hannah Schreyer (Sterling), Hannah Yahn (Sterling), Drew Carlson (Sterling), Nicole Gillham (Sterling), Kendall Meier (Sterling), Juan M. Avina, Jr. (Yuma), Brittney Mahnke (Haxtun), Nicole Fischer (Windsor), Kelsey Smith (Montrose), Laura Fincher (Nunn), Amanda Wronkoski (Greeley), Niqia Hatch (Denver), Jori Jensen-Giesen (Castle Rock), Jessie Lucas (Lafayette), Luke Janes (Peetz), Morgan Quint (Sterling), Tanner Bedsaul (Sterling), Jacob Piper (Hugo), Troy Clevenger (Crook), Derek Whittington (Fleming), Megan Stillion (Longmont), J. D. Wegele (Burns,WY), Jessic Wheelock (Sidney, NE), and Amanda Wronkoski (Greeley).

Other inductees honored, but not present for the ceremony included: Darrien Allison (Sterling), Colby Anders (Crawford, NE), Curran Barnes (Merino), Shawn Brandau (Brush), Jaci Digby (Simla), Stacy Dolan (Merino), Laura Fincher (Aurora), Etho Foxhill (Sterling), Sandy Gallippo (Akron), Alex Grauberger (Sterling), Amy Kabore (Woodlands, TX),  Telena Kerst (Wray), Kira Kopchik (Morrison), Karina Marin (Sterling), Amber Mekelburg (Fleming), Allison Owens (Merino), Sophia Phillips (Berthoud), Paxton Segelke (Snyder), Megan Stillion (Longmont),  Heather Thompson(Cleburne, TX) Tyler Vandenbark (Fleming), and Cole Westfall (Sterling).  

The PTK Officers for this school year have been: Mason Seeley, Briggsdale (President), Tanner Bedsaul, Sterling (Vice President), Drew Carlson, Sterling (Secretary), Hannah Yahn, Sterling (Treasurer), Britney Mahnke, Haxtun (Campus Activities Board (CAB) representative), and Jordan Langland, Johnstown (alternative CAB representative).

Inductees were asked to identify faculty they would like recognized at the ceremony, citing individuals on campus who have been good instructors and mentors. Those faculty, and their teaching discipline, recognized in 2014 include: Mike Anderson (agriculture), Ronda Monheiser (business), Jimmy Atencio (diesel technology), Dr. Shelby Nichols (chemistry), Donna Brady Lawler (education), Larry Pollart (agriculture), Jason Hazlett (wind technology), Julie Rhine (cosmetology), Connie Henderson (science), Bruce Scott (liberal arts), Amanda Kerker (business), Kevin Stump (math), James Lenzen (wind technology) and Scott Thompson (psychology).

Also recognized during the evening event were Anna Kindvall (Merino) and Siana Gomez (Sterling), who were named to the Colorado All-Academic Team and received a $500 Presidential Campus Scholarship for spring semester.
