Before a room full of family and friends, 14 students at Northeastern Junior College crossed the stage of the Hays Student Center ballroom and participated in the highly held, historical pinning ceremony to officially become practical nurses last week. The pins were followed with the presentation of a symbolic yellow rose, hugs and best wishes from the nursing faculty.
During the ceremony, Darci Norman of Otis was honored with the most coveted Best Bedside Nurse Award which is presented each year by the Lions Club of Sterling. This award is very special because the recipient is chosen by fellow classmates, instructors and clinical supervisors. This individual is selected for demonstrating the best patient care and compassion while being trained as a nurse.
The Highest Academic Average Award which was presented by the Rotary Club of Sterling went to Sarah E. Stieb of Sterling, CO.
