English as a Second Language help also available

The Adult and Family Education Program at Northeastern Junior College will offer another round of pre-GED and GED instruction beginning next week. A mandatory orientation for these new classes takes place on Thursday, May 1st at 4 p.m.

Those who desire to enroll in the GED spring classes are required to undergo some testing that takes place on May 2nd from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Classes will begin on Monday, May 5th. Students may attend GED classes Monday through Thursday of each week between either 9 a.m. and 12 noon, or 2:15 p.m. and 5 p.m. The classes are very flexible and the staff is eager to work with those who participate, working around your employment schedules.

In addition, English as a Second Language classes are also being held at the center on an ongoing basis. These classes happen Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 12 noon or Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 6 and 9 p.m.  Cost of these classes is $40.00. Free childcare is available on site for children ages 1-8 while parents are in the classroom.

The Adult and Family Education program is located at the corner of Sidney Avenue and Landrum Lane. In addition to pre-GED and GED classes which include practice tests and weekly official GED test sessions, students are offered workplace skills and college readiness assistance. Career exploration and assistance with college entrance and transition is also available.
