Plainsmen Escape with Two Victories in Wyoming

Sheridan, WY - The Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen Basketball team became road warriors this past weekend in order to take on two Region IX North opponents in Little Big Horn and Sheridan College in Sheridan Wyoming.

On Friday afternoon the Plainsmen took on Little Big Horn College and took control of the game early. Four different Plainsmen scored in double digits, led by sophomores Duol Mayot scoring 23 and snatching 8 rebounds and Joe Uke scoring 16. Northeastern Junior College won by the score of 91-70.

Saturday evening’s game featured the Plainsmen and the #19 ranked Sheridan Generals. The Plainsmen free throw shooting proved to be the decisive factor down the stretch. NJC shot 23 of 25 from the charity stripe to seal the victory. Five players scored in double digits, led by Duol Mayot’s 20 points and 5 rebounds and Odessa Lear’s 16 points and 5 rebounds. This is the fourth time in six games that the Plainsmen were led by a different leading scorer. Northeastern Junior College improved their record to 6-0.

The Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen return home for a four game home stand starting this Tuesday, November 19, 2013 vs. ABCD Prep at 5:30 PM.
