The Northeastern Junior College’s Plainsmen Poms Cheer and Dance Team on campus, will host a peewee cheer clinic this Thursday, November 7th from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bank of Colorado Event Center on campus. Boys and girls, ages K-5th grade are invited to participate. After learning some cheers with the college team, the children will be invited back on Friday, November 8th to perform during halftime of the 7:30 p.m. game during the women’s Ramada Classic when the Northeastern ladies take on Western Iowa.
Registration for the Thursday cheer clinic starts at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the event center. The actual cheer clinic will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will be given a dinner break at 7 p.m. and the organizers are suggesting that parents bring the children to the event with a sack dinner and they will eat as one large group on site.
Cost of the clinic is $15 per child. For this price, however, each participant will receive free admission to the game on Friday night and will receive a free popcorn from the concession stand. His or her siblings will also be admitted to the game free. Each child enrolled in the cheer clinic will also get free admission on Friday night for one adult, provided that there is at least one other paying adult attending the game.
This clinic is a fundraiser for the cheer and dance students at Northeastern. In addition to the clinic, team bows will be on sale on both Thursday and Friday nights.
If you’ve been looking for a way to start your holiday shopping a bit early and have needed a place to take your children for a few hours while you do this, this cheer clinic might be just that. Area children were given a flier to bring home from school last week regarding this clinic. There was a registration form on the bottom of that flier. If you need a new form, they will be available at registration on Thursday evening. Anyone wanting more information may call Kristine Rodine, the Plainsmen Poms sponsor at 580-7721.
