Need another good car around your place or some new golfing equipment? Want to get on a plane and fly? If you answer yes to any of these questions, that should be motivation enough to get out to the Northeastern 18 golf course for the annual Plainsman Athletic Group’s annual tournament.  Stanley Motors has teamed up with the  Plainsmen Athletic Group (PAG)  and  Northeastern Junior College Athletic Department to deliver the  15th Annual Golf Tournament, Saturday July 7, 2012.

The dollars raised from this year’s activities will be used to fund the efforts of the Plainsmen Athletic Group for the upcoming year.  The purpose of this Athletic Group is to secure support, goodwill and dollars to foster and encourage athletic excellence for Northeastern Junior College.  The money raised from this group is used to provide tuition, room/board scholarships to athletes.

The PAG Tournament begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday with registration and an 8 a.m. shot gun start. A buffet lunch at 1 p.m. will precede an awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m.  This is a four-person scramble format and cost is $300 per year.  Only 36 teams may enter. A few slots remained at the time this story was written. If someone wants to play and doesn’t have a team, they will be assigned to a team or three or four.

As part of their sponsorship of this annual event, Stanley Motors has come up with some excellent potential hole in one prizes.  If you’re familiar with the Northeastern 18 course, you’ll appreciate that a hole-in-one on Hole 5 could win you a totally loaded, beautiful 2008 Cadillac STS. One lucky stroke at Hole 8 could win you your choice of premium golf equipment; Hole 12 wins two airline tickets and Hole 17 wins a premium electronic package.

As always, local businesses and individuals came out in force to help support this worthwhile scholarship fundraiser. Hole sponsors include:  The Journal Advocate, the Gertner Family, NJC Alumni Association, RL Design, Timberline Construction, Bank of Colorado, Creative Woodworking, Kuntz Pump and Well Supply, Sterling Auto Sales, McDonalds Restaurants of Northeast Colorado, Pay Pro’s of Colorado, Bohler Well Service, The South Platte Sentinel, Lauer Szabo & Associates, Pro Sports, Better Electric, Wells Fargo Investments, Michelle Owens - Remax
