Area CNA’s encouraged to enroll

Northeastern Junior College is a member of the Eastern Colorado Healthcare Workforce Partnership, which received a SECTORS Initiative Grant in 2010. The objective of the grant is to meet the workforce needs for senior care services in both the private and public sectors.

Northeastern’s part has been to design and offer a specific course for Certified Nursing Assistants, which will focus on gerontology – the study of the aging process in humans. This will include the biology, psychology, and sociology that CNA’s need, in order to best care for senior adults.

The course, NUA 175 Special Topics: Gerontology, is being offered for certified CNA’s as well as nursing assistant students.  The course will be held Wednesday evenings from January 19th until March 11th, from 6:00-7:50 p.m.
For more information, or to get enrolled in the class, please call the NJC Nursing Office at 521-6701.
